There are no rivers or trbutaries that flow into or out of the lake. The water has been there a long time - and it so still that from a distance it looks like glass.
We hiked down to the shore to dip out toes in.

Of course, I slipped on a rock and fell in- and the water was so so cold. But, actually just thinking about how ancient and miraculous the place is gave me shivers.

The area around the lake is exceptional, we saw waterfalls, snow patched forests, volcanic rock formations and deserts. You can see more photos by clicking on the 'Sights' link in the header.

Picturesk Perfection! The lake is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour dress so cute, and oh no -- all wet!
Whoops! That sounds like the sort of thing that would happen to me. Breathtaking photos.
ReplyDeletehahah- it was kind of fun though- silly me uh I forgot? that water distorts things and I stepped down on a rock that looked flat but it was sloped and I slipped. Ah well : ) Not too bad I dried off pretty quickly and Mario and I both had a laugh. : )
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures! Haven't made it out to Crater Lake yet, really should make a point to seeing as though we've been living in Portland for over five years now. :P
