Epic Fail

Yesterday's get-up was an utter failure, so much in fact that I didn't take a photo. We woke up, had our coffee, and started out on our day. I got dressed up in my chambray trousers and brown boots and the floral Trovata top, only to have the hubs say I looked like a character from Fable. I was not deterred. I thought it all looked quite cute-and equestrian- and it would have been too, had the weather actually been cold and fall like. But, it was hot. I didn't bother to really check the weather before heading out, and I looked ridiculous in boots and buttoned up garb, when everyone else was in t-shirts and flip flops. (Not that I wear flip-flops but...) WE walked a lot yesterday, and by the time we got home I was a melty mess. Fall, where did you go? It's hot out, yet dark at 5 pm? This is too much for a New England girl. California is strange land - you'd think that I'd have adjusted, but no.

We walked over to Lakeshore , and I browsed in the little consignment shop there. We then trekked back to pick up a movie to watch, and swung by the grocery store to pick up some stuff to make an Indian Sampler Plate. Oh yeah! I'm very excited about this as I just got in the mail the Candle Cafe Cookbook. Now we can have a little bit of our NYC trip at home.

I'm off to make the Chutney now so that I'll have one less thing to cook come dinner time.

Hope that you have all had a good weekend so far!

  1. Haha, there is nothing wrong with looking like a video game character! (I might even go so far as to say this is desirable...)

But I really hate it when I dress for cold and then its warm, and then the following day I dress for warm, only to freeze. It seems like no matter where you live the weather is intent to play tricks on you!

  2. It's like that here in Texas too- I long for November & December all year long so I can pull out the boots, scarves, & coats, only to find that it is still t-shirt weather. I'm sure you looked adorable. You shouldn't have to dress for the weather, the weather should dress for you! ;)

p.s. the foods you make always sound so amazingly delicious!

    xx.
