Pieces of a weekend.

As usual this weekend was not nearly long enough. It has been pretty cold and that tends to make me lazy, so while we had big plans to head out to the de Young, we ended up staying home reading and watching movies. Oh, well.

Sunday I did go out for a bit with a friend which was really nice - and the hubs and I got some chores done as well.

Next weekend is a three dayer, and we will get to the de Young then. We have a day planned for a Point Reyes hike.

Here are some pictures I took just passing the time.

I also finished reading the books I started last week - plus I snuck in reading This Boy's Life. I'm on the hunt for some new reads - so if you have any suggestions please share.

  1. Sometimes a girl needs a lazy weekend. :)

Don't know if I've already mentioned this one but I always recommend David Sedaris' "Dress your family in corduroy and denim". His essays are about his family growing up who were slightly kooky and always makes me laugh. Plus, since it's essays you can pick up the book, read one or two and then go onto something else and come back to it if you like (I'm usually easily distracted by books).

Hope all is well (or as best as it can be given the circumstances) - thinking of you after your last post.

  2. I don't know if you have ever seen the library thing website but it's really awesome. You can keep a catalog of what you have read and it recommends stuff to you based on what you like, kind of like amazon does. this is my link in case you're interested :)

I'm way behind on the teenage game but I've just started reading Flowers in the Attic, definitely one of the more strange books I have ever read.

It's been so chilly on and off in SF, please don't tell me its like this until August?!

  3. I'm with you on staying inside, sometimes it's just too damn cold!
I love that photo of Bailey, she looks like a wild cat, like a little tiger.

The last book I read was Water for Elephants, and I did really enjoy it, so I'd recommend it. I also read it in a week, but somehow forgot to return it to the library before racking up a $1.20 in late fees.

  4. Great photos! That first one is so lovely. I'm reading Passage to India right now, it's quite good!

  7. It's always hard giving book recommendations because taste is so subjective. I love Steinbeck (especially East of Eden) and Dumas (especially The Count of Monte Cristo) for something classic, or Dave Eggers for something a little more contemporary. I tend to read young adult and children's stuff a lot, and was super impressed by The Hunger Games. Now I just need to get my hands on the rest of the series!
