Keeley Hawes - Period Drama Inspiration

Some people just have a face made for period dramas, like the young Helena Bonham Carter, Romola Garai, Jane March, and Keeley Hawes. I recently watched The Last September, based on Elizabeth Bowen's novel, set during the 1920's in Ireland. While the movie does not truly delve into the politics in Ireland at that time - nor the great history behind the struggle, it is a beautiful film. The cinematography is gorgeous, as is Hawes herself.

After watching the film I was so ready to bob my hair and wander about in light dresses.

  1. I have to remember that i'm always interested in the films you show us here...and this one is no exception! Do you tag your posts? Was that Dame Maggie Smith (the older lady) I saw? I love every film I see her in. Have you seen Room with a View? If not, you must! Both H bonham Carter and Maggie Smith are in it, it's quite charming and funny. Wow, i just barraged you with questions huh.

  2. @Teeny. Yes it was Dame Maggie...and I did see room with a view. One of my favorites. Lately I've been drawn into Downton Abbey, Daniel Deronda, and the new Upstairs Downstairs. Also I don't tag my posts. Perhaps I should?
