Mount Diablo

On Sunday morning we woke up to fog and 50 degree temperatures, so rather than head 45 minutes west (to colder, foggier temps), we headed 45 minutes east to Mt. Diablo state park - where it was sunny and in the 80's.

And while not as beautiful as some of the hikes at Point Reyes, the whole scene did remind me of Little House On The Prairie. And, we were able to get some much needed sun.

It also really brought to my attention the fact that I really should "invest" in some good hiking clothes. It really is the last ting to cross my mind when I think about shopping, but with the amount of hiking we seem to do it would be a good idea. Stay tuned for a round-up of (hopefully cute/fashionable) workout and hiking gear.

  1. Please do a post about hiking clothes! I realized how urban the functionality of my clothing was when we were staying a week on that island. Everyone else had real sneakers instead of Vans and raincoats instead of "so what?"

I spent $180 on a Patagonia Torrentshell raincoat when I got back since I had to borrow someone's grandmother's raincoat while there. But it's super functional and folds up small!

And also workout gear - when I do go to the gym, I wear a pair of either/both cotton leggings/short shorts and a giant black or gray t-shirt, with cars or Led Zep on it.

  2. @jesse hehe. I know! My hiking clothes consist of cut off shorts - old payless sneakers - and random t-shirts. I do think that your workout gear sounds cool though - I just throw on cheapo leggings and tank tops : (

  4. I never think about buying clothes for things like that. the only sneakers i own are converse.

It's great that you were able to get to some sun and warm weather, there has been too little of it this summer. i feel like every other day is rain and thunderstorms.
