Through the yard of blonde girls...and all things Swedish

Yesterday was an amazing day. Mario and I headed out to look for a new home in Marin, while I love where we live now, we hope to find a bit more space and have a yard- we may find that here in Oakland but we are also looking out closer to Point Reyes. It would be a dream to be surrounded by nature. We went and looked at this pretty little home.
You had to walk outside and up some stairs to this little look-out nest that was above the bedroom. Such a perfect space for a library!
Sadly- it was all just a bit too small for the two of us.

It's hard to tell from the photos but the ceilings were really low in the foyer area and the bedroom. Perfect for my short self, but not so much for Mario. The bedroom, while adorable, was also too small to fit our bed and furniture. *Sigh* I'm sad because I really just loved the design of the space and the greenery! It reminded me of the little summer house I stayed in in Sweden. (I think I drove Mario crazy talking about Sweden and Europe in general) We will keep looking in that area of Marin. The neighborhood had a lovely little park and was just a short walk from the little downtown.

After our little morning outing we stopped by what we like to call 'the Big Target' and picked up some new pans and bake ware. I also snuck a peak at the Zac Posen collection for target. I do not want to offend anyone who may like the collection, but I found it to be plain awful! (Shh! I took some photos of the pieces - More on that in another post.) Then we swung by Ikea (an awful idea for a weekend) to pick up a new cutting board and some hangers for our Ikea wardrobe thingy.

The best part of the day was this!

A September 1968 issue of Life Magazine covering the latest fashion from Sweden!
I saw this little piece of history on a table out in front of the Piedmont Antiques shop as we walked by on our way to a late lunch at Cafe Trieste. I wanted it - but stopped to think about did I really need this? I told Mario that if it was still there after we ate lunch it was a sign and I had to get it. And, Guess what? It was still there when we walked back from lunch. That little antique shop is good luck for me I guess, because it's where I got my engagement ring and where Mario proposed.

I will do a more in-depth post about the Swedish fashion in the Magazine for tomorrow. I CANNOT WAIT to share it with you! It's amazing!

Here is what I wore for the day:

This was the first time I wore out this dress from Permanent Vacation of Sweden.
Seriously this cannot all just be a coincidence! The scarf is from UO, the shoes are Target, the bag is a Marc Jacobs bag I got as a gift, and the too big for me sunglasses are vintage.

  6. Thank you for the early birthday wishes,
And I'm counting down the days till Bonnaroo,
I'll be getting my tickets this week.
[[ Fingers crossed there not sold out!! ]]

    I love old fashion magazines.
I always look for them when I got to yard sales && flea markets.
I've found a few good ones,
But always deside not to get them.
    No place to put them.
    :(

I do have a bunch of antique books though!!!
I think I might do a post on how my room looks now that it's been redone.
    Once everything is settled down.
    :)
