Drives Down the Coast

Last night there was a clothing Swap in San Francisco put together by Lulu's - I did not go. I wanted to attend, as it was a great opportunity to meet other local bloggers, and a chance to hang out with other like-minded ladies, chat, and of course swap clothes - but I did not feel very well yesterday and it's a bit difficult for a 9 to 5'er to get it together to go out on weeknights. I feel that I miss out on a lot of events because of this. I'm not 'old' but at times I feel like it. I work a full time job - I'm at the office 5 days a week and on weeknights, I'm not at happy hour, or at trunk shows, or meet-ups. I'm heading home to make dinner for the hubs - or to run household errands, so that our weekends are free. I feel that these aren't the usual evenings of a 20 something, but oh well. I may miss out on things that may make this blog an "it" one to read, but then I do get to do a lot of other fun things like this...

From a past weekend drive down the CA coast.

While I was wearing hiking clothes, this would be the perfect outfit to wear for such a drive.

I love how Pixie Market put this all together, and while they are not typical summer colors -they do well for the June gloom that sets in along the California coast this time of year.

Next weekend for the 4th of July we are driving down to Big Sur and spending a night in Carmel. I love that part of the California Coastline, so I'll be sure to share some photos.

What are your plans for the upcoming holiday?

  1. Oh man, can I relate to feeling like a 20-something old lady. I also work the 9-5 and wish I had the energy to go out at night, but I just don't. I run around all day, and by 6 o'clock I'm just zapped - all I want is a glass of wine, some dinner, and a movie. If I'm feeling extra energetic, I might pop in a video game, ha ha. It's good to know there are other girls my age who feel the same way!

Also, the coastline looks gorgeous and makes me want to visit a large body of water ASAP. And that Pixie Market outfit is so perfect for you; I can absolutely picture you in it!

  2. @ alicia - hahah I do the same - sometimes I'll feel up to playing a video game (I went through a huge rock band phase) but, usually it's dinner and a movie or good book. : )

  3. Oooh, I loved Carmel! We only spent one night there, but it was such a cool little town. We drove all up the coast from LA there, but I didn't get to see the coast further north, by you. Thanks for sharing these shots!

And really, what should the typical 20-something weeknight look like? I used to go out during the week until I was about 25 (and fall asleep at 7pm other nights!), but I just can't do it anymore (um, I'm not a 20-something either). You have a job and you have responsibilities, so getting out during the week IS tough. Hopefully they'll plan something fun on a weekend so you can join in!

  4. @Anne - Carmel is really cute. I'm glad we'll be there to relax/sight-see for a day. That coastal drive up the 1 is amazing. : ) Having responsibilities - is something I like - it's just hard when my friends seem to be living a sort of alternative lifestyle of freelance work /day jobs and late nights. Really though maybe thats not in my nature- I'm a grandma at heart.

  5. That looks really lovely. I hear you. I end up working more than a 9-5 and then have the kittehs, plus traveling back/forth to J's apartment. It doesn't leave a lot of extra time.

I like the color palette and proportions of that outfit a lot.

  6. Urg! I hate those missed opportunities, but you would be some sort of superhuman to make those events plus work your 9 to 5 and helps the hub. Btw, tu n'es pas une fille. T'es une femme who does big girl stuff.

Where are you going to graduate school and what for? Again, love your blog. So glad you found me!

P.S.--I would love that whole outfit. I'd never heard of Pixie Market

  7. Events held on weeknights, are dumb. I'm a 20 something granny too, I get home from work, snap my outfit pictures and then change into pjs. I'm in for the night -- unless maybe going for coffee 5 mins down the road with a friend has been planned days in advance and I'm prepared.

there was a cool blogger even in NYC, but it was on a wednesday night. How can I leave work at 6, hop a 2 hour train ride to NYC and then be home in time to wake up for work in the AM?

Sorry you had to miss out on the swap, it does sound like a lot of fun :(

Your drive looks like it was quite relaxing though, love that shot of the water.
Hope the gloom turns around soon!

  9. I feel you on just being too tired to go out like you used to (and I'm freelance, so I shouldn't have any excuses!) Being old-at-heart is underrated, haha.

Great pics; looks like some amazing locations. Coveting that outfit, too.
