Mid-year summer style blues? Liberty of London for Target Giveaway!

Yesterday, someone at work made the comment that we are half-way through the year already. I really did not need to hear that. Also, do we really need to be bombarded with fall fashion previews, advertisements for fall pre-orders, and articles about fall and resort collections in JULY? I read somewhere that the fashion seasons have always debuted early, since pre-Victorian era when high society ladies would view designs for gowns and such a season ahead. Hey, they took a lot of time to sew and transport. And, now I understand that there needs to be time to let clothing buyers and the press etc., to view the designs- but months and months ahead? Maybe it's just me, but I want to live in the moment rather than always be looking ahead, especially when that 'moment' involves warm weather, cute little shoes, and sundresses.

So I am avoiding fall look-books until September, and living in the moment - I mean really enjoying what time left there is of summer. I hope that you are too!

It was nice enough out yesterday to throw some shorts on after work, to head out and run errands, and to hang out with the kitten too.

Liberty of London for Target Giveaway.

From my closet: Cheap Monday Sunnies, Target Shoes, F 21 top, UO shorts. Faux leather belt from a pair of Zara Trousers.

I am trying hard to 'remix' items that I tend to wear only in tried and true outfits. This top for instance, has a ruffle at the waist that I usually wear over skinny jeans or patterned skirts, but here I've tucked the ruffle ( er, peplum part) into high waisted swing shorts. See how I wore it here and here.

Now for the exciting part! MONTH OF JULY LIBERTY OF LONDON FOR TARGET DRESS GIVEAWAY!! Hurrah! I bought this dress with the intention of tailoring it, but because of the ruffles and smocking it is nearly impossible to do, so I am passing it on to one of you. It is brand new with all tags attached, marked a size medium but could fit a small as well. (I would not recommend it if you are a size xs). The dress is amazing - and Sold Out at Target. The giveaway will go through the month of July. The winner will be chosen at random on July 31st at 5pm.

TO ENTER: Be a follower, via Google or Bloglovin' and leave a comment on this post about your favorite summer memory.

Throughout the month I will be giving other chances for more entries- to increase your chance to win.

You can also get an extra entry if you blog about the giveaway, just let me know that you have done so and email me the link.

I look forward to reading your comments! Best of luck!

  2. Ooooh, I adore that Liberty dress! I've been looking for it everywhere and I can actually nurse in that style (TMI, I know).

As for my favorite summer memory . . . definitely family reunions on a lake in Vermont. My cousins and I would float in inner tubes at dusk, then run around catching fireflies and smearing the juice on one another so we'd glow (although now that seems cruel). Then we'd sit around a campfire and make S'mores while my uncles told ghost stories that would keep us up all night. And while each family had rented their own cabin, the cousins would all sleep together in a pile of sleeping bags like puppies . . . I just loved it so much.

Now we're all having kids and I cannot wait for the cycle to begin itself again :)

  3. Here Here! No fall clothes until September! You know what the worst thing in the world is? When the christmas stuff starts to come out in September.

The dress is so cute, sorry it couldn't work out for you, but at least you know it will be passed along to someone who will really love it!

  4. What a nice giveaway! I follow your blog through Google Reader.

When I was a kid I loved going to the library with the totebag I painted my name on (and adhered with a bunch of fake jewels) and would load it up with 15-20 books. Babysitter's Club when I was younger, then RL Stine's Fear Street books when I was older. I would barely be able to carry the bag after that but I would read almost all of them before the 2 weeks were up and I got to do it all over again!

  8. That's such a pretty dress. I love Liberty and i always go in there and wander round wishing i could afford to buy something!

I think my favourite summer memory probably involves playing on the beach as a child. I used to live in a tiny villege called Shaldon and the sand was actually quite a brownish/orange colour so we used to roll around in it and then pretend we had sun tans!

    Here is a pic of said beach (sorry it's a pretty long URL!);
